DE WILDT NOTICE BOARD
Please adhere to the information below!
SECTION |
DATE |
NOTICE |
| 3 RIVER CROSSINGS |
25 January 2009 |
This is the section that is between the 3 Fences Shop and Jericho.
This section appears to be overgrown as it is not often used. The 1st River
Crossing is very muddy and can be a problem in the rainy season. The 3 River
Crossings need to be approached with caution if it has rained well before your intended
ride. |
| NEW TAR ROAD to KOPPIE MARKER (KTM Signs) |
01 March 2009 |
This section is the new route to 3 Fences. On your way to the
Marker on top of the Koppie you will notice that the locals have tried to build a kraal
right across the trail. They have also attempted to block off the trail by piling up
a whole lot of thorn bushes on this specific trail. The trail has obviously been
re-routed around these obstacles. |
| SETHALE RIVER |
25 January 2009 |
The first fence no longer has a gate that is big enough for quads.
At this point I have not checked to see if you can get around this gate. The
gate is only big enough for MX bikes. Unless you want to put your quad on 2 wheels
and push it through you will have to find an alternative route to go further up the
Sethale River. |
| VACINITY OF LONG ROCKS AND V's |
15 May 2009 |
Please be on the look out for the locals that are busy with tribal
initiations. They have actually requested that we stay away from that area between
the beginning of May to the end of July. |
| OUT OF BOUNDS! Written
by Steve "Tombestone" Lauter

here This notice would be in effect for every
year around the same period. |
May 2009 |
Out of bounds: There are four areas that are out of bounds in the
greater De Wildt region and these areas need to be respected. They are:
· The property directly opposite and to the right of the Morula Sun hotel. This used to
be a popular option for starting the ride but since the property has been developed the
residents have politely asked us not to ride there.
· Temporary ban until the end of July 2009 of the V, Aloes, and the area
between them. Traditional tribal initiation ceremonies have been in process since the
beginning of June and are due for completion at the end of July. We have been asked by the
area chief to respect this request and we should. You can still use Coconuts and Long
Rocks to get up or down the Morula Koppie.
· The new tarred road that goes down from the KTM signs to the start of 3 Fences river
bed.
· The Jericho Rock. The ride to Jericho up to Bafana Bafana is still open and we are
welcomed there. The Rock itself falls in the Waterval municipal boundary and those folk
are NOT bike friendly. To keep the peace, we stay off the Rock.

| BUTCH'S ROCKS |
October 2009 |
Please be aware that a rider
was shot and injured on this part of the trail. We urge riders to be
on the look out for any suspicious behaviour and report any findings that
may be relevant. It is our recommendation that riders stay away
from this part of the trail for at least 3-4 months. Should you wish
to ride this part of the trail then please make sure that your group is big
enough to deal with a situation.
